DESCRIPTION:
APW - Rockford, "D. Hess, Ottawa, Ill." marked mvt, 9-11J, Model 2, 18S, gold-filled G.W. Ladd HC with superb engraving detail, front with scene of locomotive passing in front of mountain range, rear with detailed scene of a hunter and bear in close quarters combat, white enamel SS dial, transitional style SW-LS with retained KW arbor, gilt mvt, s#68504.
CONDITION:
Mvt: NR, fully wound, balance is gummy, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, discolored spot at perimeter of main plate near s#, haze spot near center of main plate, some light haze and scattered small spots in areas elsewhere; nearly flawless dial with micro-fine scratch near center; excellent hands; case shows hardly any wear, no dents or dings, superb engraving detail, bezel is virtually entirely brass with only minuscule traces of a gold layer, bezel and band have had lever-set slots widened to accommodate the present mvt, reverse of pendant with an extra hole for stem detent screw; tight bow, crown shows little wear; good glass crystal.
